Welcome to Rhythm Guitar – Episode 17. Being able to create rhythms from within the Country style will have us focused on the development of specific feels that show up most regularly in the songs of country western music. These will include ideas like the shuffle, triple meter time in ¾ (which gives us the Country Waltz). It will involve us learning about faster 16th-note beats as well. Those are a big part of the American Country Music scene… Plus, add to that, we’ve studied in our earlier lessons of Rhythm Guitar on how important melody filler lines are, (along with arpeggiated chord picking), so remember that we will also need to have that feel down for this style as well. Work on the principle examples in this lesson, develop a collection of your own original examples as well and you’ll have a great head start to knowing exactly what you’ll need to expect when it comes down to playing the rhythms of Country Guitar.
